Some of you will remember the Blogs feature we used way back in the day. Well, I've put it back. It looks a little broken at the moment visually, but I'll fix that in time. All the old blogs are there for anyone who created one a while ago. Use this as an opportunity to revive your old blog, or delete it if you're not interested in continuing it.

The SofaGeek "portal" is now back on the menu. You can view it here. The portal is basically a different view of the forum, and will contain all the posts from the Announcement threads and a couple of at-a-glance features. Some of you may find it completely unnecessary, others might prefer it as your landing page here at SofaGeek. Check it out either way :)

Okay, it's now possible to embed some media here at SofaGeek, using media tags.

You can simply type [ media ] (without the spaces), followed by a link to the media, and then [ /media ] (again, without the spaces).

At the moment your use of this feature is pretty much unregulated... if it gets abused I'll take another look at that.

Also, it is possible for me to set things up so you can embed media from other sites if you'd like to take advantage of it. Simply PM me and ask.

Given the change to the look and feel of SofaGeek, and the resulting incompatibility of old avatars, here's something to get things kicked off with the new look!

Come up with a new Avatar in the next seven days that is creative, looks great or is simply unique in some special way. Entry is automatic to anyone who changes their avatar and replies to this thread with a new avatar.

As you can see, I've upgraded the software that runs the forum.

Things will look a little messy for a while as we rebuild the look and feel.

The biggest impact for all of you is the fact that the wide avatars no longer fit in with the skin. I will not be changing things back to suit the wide avatars. This was a nice feature, and certainly unique, but clearly not something that makes or breaks SofaGeek. In the coming days I'll be removing all the wide screen avatars. Feel free, in the meantime, to replace your own by yourself.

Hi folks, just apologising for the lack of input from me of late.

Due to the real world, and a few personal issues, I have not had the time to do much here lately.

But the real world is under of control (sort of ;) ), and I'm a happy camper again, so things are looking up.

So, I'm keen to get the last trivia questions finished, and give the Eyes a bit of a shove in the right direction.

Once again, sorry for being a bit slack lately, it won't happen again :D

There is now a Friends of Sofageek group on Facebook

Just a minor note to let you know I just rebuilt some of the backend stuff in the forum, which included a recount of all statistics on the forum (post counts, topics, polls etc) to reflect current data (not deleted stuff, pruned stuff etc).

Simply for server load issues and to keep everything neat and tidy for a possible forum software upgrade.

So I forgot to renew sofageek.com - so for a few hours or so the site was redirected to some rubbish expired site. I've fixed it up and we're sweet again... but just thought I'd let you know: My bad!
